Founded in 2017, Wachira Wines is the first Kenyan-American winery in the U.S. We celebrate Kenyan culture, Kenyan values, and our family's dual Kenyan-American adventure. As an independent, woman-owned, family-run winery, we are dedicated to crafting world class wines featuring our #winesafari experiences shared with family and friends. To this day, our mission remains true to our roots, and so do our wines.

Karibu Wine Lounge is the first Black woman-owned winery tasting room in Alameda County, Calif. "Folks of color are hugely underrepresented. We are 0.1% of the wine industry in this country. So creating a space that allows us not only to showcase our talents, but also to feel welcome and included, is core to who I am," said Dr. Chris Wachira, who created the business.
